The Teen Combo
The Les Taylor Combo

The Teen Combo were a Carlisle group who were very popular in the early sixties. They supported Gene Vincent and Sounds Incorporated at the Cosmo. They also supported Johnny Kidd & The Pirates at Hexham and the Allisons at Dumfries.

Their promoter was Duncan McKinnon who brought Joe Loss, Acker Bilk, Alex Welsh and Ken Mackintosh to venues in the area. He got the Teen Combo gigs over a fairly wide area including Stockton, Kelso, Barnard Castle and Maryport.

Later on Colin Spark founded the Les Taylor Combo with himself on keyboards and vocals, Brian Davis on guitar and vocals and Roger Taylor on drums. They did a lot of nightclub work in the north west.

The Les Taylor Combo became the resident band at the Border Country Club at Kirklinton Hall. They supported Bert Weedon, Lita Rosa, Nat Gonnella and even the young Les Dawson.

One Whitsun the entire White Heather Club appeared with Robin Hall, Jimmy McGregor and a team of highland dancers.
