Anthem were comprised of Howard Bell (bass and vocals), Philip Brown (lead vocals and rhythm guitar) , Peter Brown (lead guitar and vocals), and Keith McMean (drums)

The band was formed in 1971 and by 1972 they were performing all over Cumbria, Lancashire and the South of Scotland, mainly in working mens clubs and social clubs.

Anthem split up in 1976 and the members moved on to other things.

Howard Bell is still playing, having released a CD "Speed of Thought" a couple of years ago.

Philip Brown went on to play with The Dooleys and Heartland and then became a sound engineer and has worked with Status Quo andMarillion amongst others.

Keith McMean played drums with various local bands including Adrenalin

Peter Brown, brother of Philip, passed away in 2007.
